This my boy right here! And his wifey. Bavu Blakes SANCT EP is coming soon and you will fill dat. It's so good.
From the PR wing of Bavu Blakes, Inc:
The re-introduction of Texas-to-Cali transplant and soulful hip hop artist Bavu Blakes begins with a buttery soulful instrumental song and video entitled "Wifey".
Taken from Bavu's upcoming SANCT EP entirely produced by Reggie Coby (dead prez/Devin the Dude), "Wifey" is a love song dedicated to Mrs. Blakes. Coby's composition and programming is complemented by live instrumentation from Bavu's band the Extra Plairs, with D-Madness on bass, Carter Arrington on guitar and Jon Keyzz on … keys.
Bavu doesn’t appear in this video because it’s an instrumental song focused on his wifey. He shot it himself in Laguna Beach and Harbor City, California, then sent it to Texas for editing by DVZN Media.
Literally a legend in the Texas underground scene, Bavu's studio collaborators include Grammy winning producers Symbolyc One (Kanye West/Beyonce/Jay-Z) and Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma/Ocote Soul Sounds/Brownout/Echocentrics); blues guitarist/singer Gary Clark Jr. (Warner Bros.), who ?uestlove calls “the future”, and Houston rapper Paul Wall.
As a performer, Bavu has shared the stage with Wynton Marsalis, Blackeyed Peas, The Roots, Snoop, Pharrell Williams, Luda, Busta, UGK, De La Soul, Anthony Hamilton and many more. As a journalist, Bavu has interviewed Pharrell Williams, Dallas Austin, Erykah Badu, Rakim, Common, Mary Mary and many more.
The upcoming SANCT EP will be released digitally and physically (CD, vinyl) on April 3, 2012. Review copies are available upon request.
