I literally would go see this dude play every week in Chicago. His raging quintet, Vandermark 5, played every Tuesday night they were all in town at the Empty Bottle. Cover was $3, beers were $2, the bartender always knew I wanted a Leinies. Sometimes there'd be three people there, sometimes 300. It was always a scene. I have seen him in many different settings with players from around the world and he blew me away every time. That whole Chicago jazz scene, I miss it so much. And we had the same barber. On Belmont...
And Ab Baars of course is a brilliant voice himself. From The Netherlands and a player in the Instant Composers Pool, another favorite of mine for many years.

Then next Friday April 17th I'm DJing (punk rock and weird shit) at Beerland on a benefit for the band When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth. Their van was broken into and all their equipment was stolen!
