ANyway the boy had an art show, his first one. I think he's on the right track, ain't nothin' to it but to do it and such. And he made money. For real.

ZIGABOO SHIN-PETERSON - REMEMBER THAT NAME ART WORLD ELITE...

Cuz he's killin' it as you can see.

Big ups to Texas French Bread at 32nd and Lamar for hosting. This is a real Austin institution.

Mommy shows off the work...

It really went down...

Up in the VIP

This is the one I meant to buy but got out bid...

And here's "A Portrait of the Artist with his Father." The boy already has the Apartment Guide in his hands like "Man, I'm a HUGE artist, I'm getting my own place." Slow your roll there potna, you've got it pretty good.

And Saturday night ALSO WENT DOWN! I been trying to catch Terel Shahid's Neckbone for some time now and finally got the chance. And BONUS it was with Dope E Performing with the band HATCH and special guest RIFLEMAN!

Seriously...

Neckbone is killer, for real.

Rifleman from Cali was in the house, what a great surprise. Dude killed it with the band.

NEVER dreamed I'd see Dope E and Rifleman on stage together.

But I hath...

This dude did not stop raging the entire night. We wonder how his neck feels on this good Monday.

The walls at Flamingo make for some interesting photos.

Anyway, it went down. I gotta go to work. I should have the next Christmas mix "Christmas Without Borders" up tonight.

And I hope to see you at the David Banner/Bun B/Z-Ro show at the Music Hall Tuesday...

Oh yeah AustinSurreal up in the media...

Quick links here. I'm a slacker, shoulda done this already, but um, uh, awready.

Firstly, Richard Henry did an interview with me on his new blog DESTROY ALL MONSTER! And like, well I guess I forgot to put it up. I think I didn't put it up cuz I was so long winded and a little embarrassed. And don't think anyone in the world will sit and read all that, but what are you gonna do?

Click here to check out my interview on Destroy All Monster.

Then my dude Brian McManus hit me up last week to get my opinion of internet rap beefs. He's the Music Editor at Philly Weekly and did a cover story on the beef between Gillie the Kid and a dude named Rek. Anyway, I told him some things and he quoted me verbatim. My quotes relate to rap as a whole and such, not these two particular dudes in Philly (sort of). I have honestly never heard either of those dudes. I may have heard Gillie on a Drama tape cuz I know they are/were down. But yeah man, wait no that's Willie the Kid, never mind, I have no idea.

All I know is that YouTube "beefs" are part of the reason I do not give much of a fuck about this rap shit anymore.

Anyway read the story here cuz it's a great one and you can comment below about what a salty old man I hath become. It was inevitable.

Thanks to everyone who covered ther Pimp C Tribute Show this week. Y'all really put it down and helped spread this love. Big love to Roberta Magrini my long time friend at Jive Records for helping us get it out there as well.

FREE MIX: Ladies of Christmas!!!!

Oh man it's really goin' down today. I should be on my third mix, but that Pimp C Tribute was sort of like, you know, more important. But this here mix is also VERY IMPORTANT!

Click here to download MattSoReal's Ladies of Christmas Mix.

And in going through my music I realized how little female led Christmas music I have. I mean, I've got a bit, but I am going to have to fix that. Why ladies always getting slighted in the music biz? I hath no idea. Dude's R Trippin'.

But yeah, Smoked Out Christmas, Trip Out It's Christmas, Crunk Christmas... all coming soon.

Feel free to use any one of these images for your mixtape cover. I ain't trippin'.

Here's the Track List:

Valerie Masters - Christmas Calling
Kitty Wells - White Christmas
Rosemary Clooney - Suzy Snowflake
Gayla Peevey - I Want a Hippopatamus for Christmas

Man it went down beautifully last night at KPFT.

Today marks the day, the one year anniversary of the death of Pimp C. It saddens me, as I am sure it saddens you to know that our man is gone, but you know, we are still here and we have to keep this mans name alive. He was a pioneer, an innovator, a man who kept the south on his shoulders and brought us to where we are today. He and Bun B are two of the most important hip-hop (countryraptune) artists of all time.

Last night it really went down and...

TONIGHT - Tribute to Pimp C on KPFT Houston Hosted by me and Bun B

Man I blasted this out to like every hip hop site and board on the planet and didn't put it on my own blog yet. I'm about to head out to Houston to do the Pimp C Tribute show tonight. Read below for all the info and please tune in and let me know you are out there.

Wednesday Night at Midnight, the start of December 4th marks one year since Chad Butler aka Pimp C was found dead in a hotel room in Los Angeles. Last year we at Damage Control produced a bit of a tribute to the man, just a couple days after he passed. Wednesday night/Thursday morning we will take a look at the year since he has passed and will have some of his friends and family on the phone and in the studio talking about the man and all he brought to the music game.

And more.

It's one of the "hip-hop" deaths that I am sickest about. How many of our leaders have to die? Think about those who have passed in our community, almost all of them were leaders. Screw, Fat Pat, Hawk, Big Mello, Big Moe, all changed the game in some way, shape or form. They're not the only ones. We can't forget Pac, Biggie, Big L, hell we can't forget Scott LaRock, all leaders. Pimp C was a leader too. He was a man respected cuz he built his own lane and stayed in it and dominated it. He and Bun B are the backbone of this southern rap movement. The mentors, the true Kings. I thank God that we still have Bun B in our presence. He will join us in the studio and we have calls lined up from Mama Wes, David Banner, Greg Nice, Big Gipp and DJ Paul. That won't be all as I am sure more Houston folk will join us to relay some stories.

This time around though, the studio is closed to anyone not invited. We want to make this serious and can't have just anyone coming down fucking with the vibe. This is for Pimp C and this is how we do it.

Wednesday Night / Thursday Morning 12 a.m. - 3 a.m. Central Time

Live on KPFT, 90.1 FM in HOuston, 89.5 in Galveston

http://www.kpft.org on the world wide web.

Call in number is 713-526-KPFT. We may put a couple listeners on the air.

R.I.P. Pimp C!
