Saturday is a BIG day for US!
Record Store Day 2010!
Orgone in Austin 4/22

It really is a BIG DAY FOR US! People like US who love music, on record if possible, and such.

You may, but probably don't, remember this post from Two years ago when Eva, Elena and I hit the streets of Austin for this momentous holiday. Well this year we are gonna do it again, only with a couple dollars in our pockets and a real mission at hand.

Throwback shot of my Elena...

Anyway for those of you who are not hip to this HUGE Holiday, it's a day where we celebrate the few record stores we have left. Fortunately for us in AustinSurreal Land, we probably have more record stores per capita in this here town than maybe any other in the world. I could be wrong, but most cities I have lived in over the past 38 years have lost all but a few of their beloved diggin' spots. Austin has lost some here and there too, but there's still a ton compared to other cities.

Anyway, you can go to RECORDSTOREDAY.COM to find out all the information on this great day (and what stores are participating).

Many will have bands playing live, also DJs. Many will feature limited edition releases made specially for Record Store Day. And many, well, will have free beer. Do you need more reasons? Here's a few of the reasons that I am going:

Definitely check out RECORDSTOREDAY.COM to see what is happening in your city, and support at least one of your local spots tomorrow.

Anyway here's my highlights for tomorrow:

Limited Releases:
Beastie Boys Super Surprise White Label 12"
Black Moth Super Rainbow Foil Pressed Double LP
Bruce Springsteen Ltd Edition 10" single (no I would not buy this, but it's pretty rad that the ol' Boss is participating and releasing some 10" Vinyl!)
Budos Band/Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings Split 7". Budos Band cover's "Day Tripper!"
Multiple Devo CD and Vinyl Reissues!
Fela Kuti 10" on Knitting Factory Records

Jesus I am only on "F" and could list so much more. CLICK HERE to see all the special Record Store Day Releases. Except of course for the surprises that we will only know about tomorrow.

In addition to all that, there'll be live music all over. I am hoping to be at Waterloo at 5pm, (and probably 2-3 other times throughout the day) to see Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba. Word is Butcher Bear is DJing at Backspin at some point, and well, I just plan to make the rounds. Maybe leave your Record Store Day tips for us in the comments section.

Then next week we of course have 4/20 which is also a huge holiday for US and then on 4/22 ORGONE returns to Austin and will be killing it like a MFer with Tuh-Nie & Gnaws and Richard Henry, who is about to have a birthday. So yeah, it's really, really, really, goin' down!
